Reflecting
The days are getting shorter, the mornings have that freshness to it…even frost some mornings! The leaves are slowly dropping off the trees, we know we are into fall. This has got to be one of the nicest falls that we have experienced in Calgary in a long time. We haven’t even had snow yet!!
It has been nice getting out for walks, Gord and I have been walking the Douglas Fir Trail (in Calgary) quite regularly this fall and it has been so lovely. The smell of fall, experiencing the changing colors of the trees. Getting the glorious sunshine on our faces feels so good.
I feel truly fortunate to have been experiencing such a beautiful summer and fall. Spring started off with our road trip to Summerland, Victoria, Rossland, and Sparwood. We spent most of our summer in Calgary and I had the opportunity to do the most hiking that I have ever done in one year. It was a wonderful experience. We went to the Kokcanusa Lake to spend time with my family there and had lots of fun. My trip to Radium with the girls was a great learning experience not to mention a lot of laughs and good “chick” weekend. I just came back from a trip to Sparwood to visit my family. We did a couple day trips from there, the scenery is spectacular. Also, highway 22 is a beautiful drive. It has been so nice to enjoy the beauty of my own backyard.
I can’t believe how lucky I am and how truly grateful I feel for having a wonderful loving husband, family and friends. I couldn’t imagine my life without them, thank you for being there. Sometimes I don’t think that I express that enough.
Below is a picture of from my hike to Burstall Pass.

Thank you for sharing, Lois. It’s still dark this morning – and snowing – but I can feel the sun on my face. We are so lucky!

Hello Lois,
the snow was a surprise and then the sunshine when I left the appointment today. Your photo and sharing your summer journey is a gift to those of us that are not free to travel at this time. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Shawna, I’m glad that you enjoyed the blog. I guess that is why it is nice to live where we do because we can escape into the little pockets of the city like the Douglas Fir Trail which makes me feel like I’m still getting away right here in my own back yard! But after today’s little episode of snow I’m not sure how much longer it is going to last!! Take care of yourself.

Hi Lois,
Great photo and wonderful trip – I agree – best fall in many years – my usual favorite season is spring but seeing as we went straight from winter into summer we will likely go straight from Indian summer into winter – so by default, this fall has to be my favorite for sure! Your photo of Burstall pass reminds me of a glorius hike we had from Emerald Lake Lodge – we did it as a summer farewell for my oldest daughter just prior to going off to college a couple of years ago. Thanks for sharing!

I’m glad that you enjoyed the photo…I guess it gave you an opportunity to reflect on your hike with the family. How time goes by so quickly when you think back of your daughter going off to college a couple of years ago.
